TUESDAY EVENINGS
STUDIO OIL PAINTING
Todd Bonita (6-9pm) Portsmouth, NH
855 Islington St. (Artist studio #224)
This indoor class takes place in the artist Portsmouth, New Hampshire studio on Tuesday evenings throughout the year and aims to simplify oil painting using a traditional layering process. These classes are small and limited to only six students, designed to better enable personal artistic growth. Each class begins with a demo where we will explore individual steps from drawing to underpainting to color application. Design, value, color and creative oil painting techniques and tools will be discussed and demonstrated. With an understanding of these principles, students will be better equipped to meet the challenges of painting with glazes and layers, and thereby, better able to express themselves as artist. All levels are welcome, this class is appropriate for beginners to pros. Syllabus and supply list below.

SESSION 1: ADVANCED OIL PAINTING LAYERS & GLAZES (Jan 05 - Feb 09, 2016) (6) Tuesday Eves ($240)
This first session is for students who have studied with me before and wish to build upon their understanding of this process and technique. This is a hands on, project based critique class designed to meet students specific needs in the pursuit of artistic growth.

SESSION 2: BEGINNERS OIL PAINTING LAYERS & GLAZES (March 1 - April 19, 2016) (8) Tuesday Eves ($320)
The tradition of oil Painting with layers has been in practice since the Renaissance. The techniques and methods discussed in this workshop attempt to simplify the process into clear, compartmental stages. Developing a design, drawing, under painting with values and applying color are some of the major considerations. I am including below an eight day syllabus detailing the structure of this method. Through discussion, hand outs, demonstration, practice and critique, this course is designed to enable the student to comprehend each step of this process and complete a painting on their own over the eight days we meet.
